Many people may feel that machining technology, which is the foundation of manufacturing, is a “simple” and “muddy” technology. However, cutting cutting cutting-edge materials into micron-level thin slices and polishing surfaces to nano-level or lower irregularities. The processing technology is the key to make or break a new material with excellent performance. In our laboratory, we design processing from the viewpoint of atoms and molecules, making machining “science”. We create new functions for materials that cannot be achieved with conventional technologies.
